Dr New Siu Yee
Dr New Siu Yee is an Associate Professor in the School of Pharmacy, University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM). She obtained her PhD in Chemistry from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and spent a year as a visiting researcher at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Before joining UNM, she worked as a Research Scientist at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), A*STAR, Singapore.

Dr New’s research focuses on the development of nanosensors for bioapplications, particularly biotemplated metal nanoclusters and nanoparticles, while also advancing nanoscience education to inspire students’ interest in STEM. She has published in high-impact ISI-indexed journals, including Chemical Communications, Nanoscale, and Biosensors and Bioelectronics. Her work has also been featured in major media outlets such as Melody FM, Sin Chew Daily, The Star, and Citta Bella Magazine.

In recognition of her contributions, Dr New was selected as a Young Affiliate of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in 2023. She is also a recipient of the L’Oréal-UNESCO Fellowship for Women in Science (2021) and was named a Highly Commended Finalist for the Women of the Future Southeast Asia Awards 2020 (Science, Technology & Digital Category).
