Dr Lim Kue Peng
Dr. Lim graduated from the University of Bristol in 2009, where she identified that fibroblasts at different stages of oral cancer vary significantly, impacting cancer progression. She now leads the Cancer Immunology & Immunotherapy Research Unit at Cancer Research Malaysia, focusing on new cancer treatments. Her current research involves developing vaccines to train the immune system to target and destroy cancer cells. Recent findings show that cancer protein-derived vaccines can induce anti-tumour responses, and discussions with regulatory bodies are underway to advance this into clinical use. Dr. Lim received the Top Research Scientist Malaysia and L’Oréal for Women in Science Awards and has secured research funding from various sources, including the Ministry of Science Malaysia, the Newton-Ungku Omar Fund, and the Global Challenges Research Fund from the UK’s Medical Research Council.
